Another fine slice of progressive trance from Laurent’s Velvet Girl guise. Promise U Heaven is a perfect example of the deeper progressive coming out of Green Martian at that time. Beautifully crafted melodies intertwine harmoniously to bring a euphoric kinda vibe as pounding beats and driving basses move your body.
Summertime was Velvet Girl’s first rtelease and after years of listening to Laurent Veronnez’s many guises, we thought we’d heard it all, until this one arrived. This one was a game changer for many as it brought in a fresh approach to the trance sound. Swirling pads and a mish-mash of melodies that combined beautifully delivered a euphoric and emotional experience that appealed to millions around the world. The B-side on the original 12″ held the magical Velvet which is considered one of the best from this awesome project.
Laurent Veronnez’s Velvet Girl (as L-Vee) gave rise to the more mellow side of his productions. A smooth Balearic vibe was quickly established that took us listeners into another world, a dream world full of melody and warm enveloping sounds. Walking In Sunshine was the perfect Summer tune, not only on the White Isle but all over the world. This sound was loved so much that it spawned a wealth of re-releases on various labels as well as several remixes. The original release featured a remix from the late great Philippe Van Mullem who added his own special touch to the sound.
After a break of almost 4 years, Laurent Veronnez re-hashed his Velvet Girl alias which definitely pleased a lot of people. Satisfy came along after the official comeback (A New Dawn) in 2006 and featured an Airwave Remix and a Club Mix, with both dishing out equally top notch sounds. 2 more tracks would follow as well as a Best Of.. compilation. Definitely one his more popular projects and well worth having in your collection.
